Parents, as a child's primary caretaker, has the most influence in their social development.
A growing body of evidential findings support this fact and show that parental behavior and a lack of appropriate parenting skills can either increase or decrease a child's risk for delinquency and other social and behavioral problems that affect all of us.
The Responsible Parenting Campaign promotes preservation of the family to protect the welfare of children, strengthen family relations, and communities.
It is a year around initiative that works in collaboration with other state and local groups to engage community, people raising children, and youth in programs, events, and activities that promote effective and responsible family, parenting, and parent education to prevent child maltreatment, school dropout, alcohol and substance abuse, teen pregnancy, breakdown of the family structure, and neighborhood deterioration.
