Draw public attention to the critical importance of responsible parenting as a life-long commitment
Raise awareness that everyone benefits from parenting education and support
Promote education and resources for developing parenting skills
Raise awareness that effective parenting is a key factor in the prevention of drug misuse, teen pregnancy, child neglect and abuse, school truancy and drop-out, crime, neighborhood deterioration, escalating number of children in foster care, and many other maladies that affect children and our communities as a result of ineffective parenting
Provide parents and families with vital information on the many resources and services available that support families in Indiana
Align local resources to create parenting networks
During the month of April, community organizations, schools, churches, the media, state and local agencies, individuals, and parents are encouraged to promote and host/sponsor a variety of family/parent-centered events and activities under the banner of April is Parenting Awareness Month Indiana, that are family-fun, free, informative, and promote effective parenting and parent education to protect and advance the wellbeing of children, families, and communities in Indiana.

Simply list your events and activities on the attached form and send to us as soon as your event/activity is scheduled and certainly no later than May 15, 2010.  We compile a list of all events with and organizations participating and publish this info on our website for all to reference and get more ideas about what they can do next year.
